OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY
The Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), was once
under a tropical sea and has been moulded through two Ice Ages and thousands
of years of farming history.

CYCLING, WALKING AND HORSE RIDING
The Wolds is renowned for it spectacular skies, breathtaking views and has some of the best walking and cycling countryside in the county. The network of footpaths and bridleways offers a range of walking and cycling routes to suit all ages and abilities, and because of the abundance of quiet country lanes and wide open spaces the landscape is ideal for those visitors who enjoy horse riding and pony trekking.

BLUESTONE
HEATH ROAD
The Bluestone Heath Road is prehistoric and runs south-eastward across
the Wolds. From the ridge-top there are views of steep valleys. Close
by lies Red Hill Nature Reserve and its striking red chalk is rich with
fossils and is the home to many species of plants, insects, common lizard
and grass snake.

SNIPE DALES
On the southern edge of the Wolds, near to the market town of Horncastle,
is Snipe Dales Country Park and Nature Reserve. This area, one of the
few substantial wet valley systems still surviving, has marked routes,
information boards, ponds and a bird hide.
Enjoy the fabulous scenery as you travel through charming
villages such as Donington on Bain and Tealby.

MARKET TOWNS
The Wolds market towns of Alford, Louth, Spilsby and Horncastle offer
excellent starting bases and stopping-off places when exploring the
area, with all the facilities you need.
